November 18 Performers: The Octet
String quintet plus bassoon, horn, clarinet
One of the rarest combinations in chamber music is the Octet, with 8 musicians all working together in harmony. Any bigger, and it would be called an orchestra, with the Bassoon and French Horn being given rare opportunities with Clarinet and strings in the chamber music realm. Come and hear two completely different takes on this rare collaboration through the lenses of composers Isang Yun and the incomparable Franz Schubert.
